Born in 1991 in South Africa and raised in New Zealand, Mr du Prizzle is a Kiwi artist and carpenter working across printmaking, painting, woodworking, and installation. Influenced by René Magritte and the expansive landscapes of Josh Lancaster, his practice constructs vivid, slightly off-kilter worlds—bold in colour, precise in composition, and quietly unsettling in their reflection on human instinct and the gradual erosion of nature.
After studying at Whitecliffe, he has spent over a decade working across the arts and has exhibited in New Zealand, Germany, and the Netherlands. He has also run an independent gallery and served as Creative Director for the Devonport region during Auckland Art Week, contributing a considered curatorial perspective to his broader practice. Now based in Normandy, France, his work continues to evolve through a process of measured curiosity.
His approach remains grounded in a simple premise: art is for the people. Unsold works are left out in the world—unclaimed, unguarded—on the off chance someone feels compelled enough to carry one home. A quiet transaction, between stranger and story.
